Company History

Martin & Hamilton began as a Building & Civil Engineering contractor in June 1967. The original company was formed by three directors, two of whom are still represented into the second generation.

Back in the early days the company built many of the now landmark buildings in it’s home town of Ballymena such as High Kirk Church and Dunclug Primary School.

Nowadays the company is involved in a wider area of projects across Northern Ireland. Recent projects have included a new £5 million Private Hospital Facility on the Lisburn Road, Belfast, restoration and refurbishment at the old Roe Valley Hospital, Limavady to regenerate an aging building for today’s uses, a new £2.4 million community complex at Ballymena North and ongoing construction works at the Marie Curie Hospice, Kensington Road, Belfast.

In recent years the company has gained a reputation for restoration works at historic properties. This is an exciting area to work in, being involved with heritage sites such as Dunluce Castle and Carrickfergus Castle with the National Trust and at the Albert Clock with Belfast City Council. Restoration projects at Christchurch, Belfast and Belmont Old Primary School, Belfast were both opened by HRH Prince of Wales.
